Calovebora and the Caribbean Coast
Calovebora is a small Caribbean village of 300 in the north of Santa Fe, about an hours drive from the district capital. It is located on the beach, where the paved road of 33 ends. It is located next to the Comarca Ngabe and on the Calovebora River.
There are a couple of fondas in Calovebora, two rustic hostels and others that rent rooms. There are no public utilities (electricity or phone), however you can sign up to use satellite internet by the hour.
Some enjoy the beach at Calovebora itself, a wild, windswept beach. Others take boat rides around the estuary, or to nearby beaches, and it is becoming increasingly popular as a jump off point to travel to Escudo de Veraguas.
It is highly recommended that you set up boat excursions at least 2-3 days in advance. The months for calm waters are September-October and April.
