Orchids & Other Plants

Santa Fe provides a perfect and diverse habitat for orchids, with over 300 species identified in the National Park and surrounding areas.   The Santa Fe Orchid Grower’s Association puts on an annual expo of orchids.   While this occurs just once a year, visitors can see orchids  and purchase other tropical plants at one of the local plant nurseries. Many orchids were originally gathered in what is now Santa Fe National Park, but this practice grew out of favor with the focus on conservation, so you will find many nurseries may have orchids, but not sell them.
